glo def. Dutch: a group of individuals who congregate to witness a unique event.
gloATL
is a collaborative platform of contemporary artists
whose core purpose is to bring art, artists, and audiences
together to enrich, engage and transform lives through the experience of art.
This unique forum's guiding vision is
to instill education and curiosity into the diverse members of a community by witnessing
and taking part in a shared sense of culture as part of an ecumenical community.
A community built by entertaining, emotional and physical bridges
through the universality of gesture and essence of being.

The forum is made up of three distinct components:
1. the professional performances
2. the educational initiatives and residencies
3. site-specific events
Integrating movement, music, text, and rich visual design, gloATL's
performance work is assembled with recklessness and rigour, balancing
sharp exactitude with irreverence and risk. The choreographic language
is a breadth of fresh movement extracting classical elements with the
complexity and freedom of today's rhythmic culture.
In its inaugural year, gloATL will create work in New York City,
Chicago, and Vancouver, Canada. Choreographic residencies
include Kennesaw State University. And, the gloATL Summer
Intensive will have its second season come June 2010, for 3 weeks.

Introduction
For 2 weeks, emerging artists are invited to take part in this unique
training and performance platform. With highly personal, visceral dance as
the cornerstone of the daily creative process, A team of collaborative artists
will guide the next generation, and the next, on a journey that values independent
thinking and problem solving through fresh exploration and a tenacious,
communal work ethic in artistry.
Philosophy
gloATL believes that each individual has a singularly unique voice,
and that most of us are capable of more than we think we can achieve.
The project is built to reveal to the artists hidden potential and fresh
pleasure in their chosen art. This transforming process we call "mapping."
We aim for clear speaking, of all languages.
Daily schedule
In residence at both the Woodruff Arts Centre Alliance Theatre, and Atlanta's stunning
Dance 101 studios, the first half of the day will begin with class, followed by the investigation
of improvisational tools applied through site-specific work in the heart of Atlanta's Art District.
Following lunch, the process will focus on choreographic processes in contemporary language
of dance, music, and def poetry.

The entire 2 week Intensive will promote an "open rehearsal" setting in which the Public
is welcomed into the artistic Process. On the final Saturday of the Intensive, family and
friends are invited for an informal performance, followed by a very big party.

Drop-in rates
* $10.00 for contemporary/gaga class.
* $35.00 for class/ afternoon creation process.
* Daily drop-in rates are available for all.
(only artists who are registered weekly will be included
on the daily site-specific platform).
*** Financial support is available on an individual basis.
Housing:
Limited complimentary housing with local artists and gloATL
supporters is available to early applicants.
